Why he entered. When the incumbent decided not to seek re-election, Comardelle looked at what was already in motion in the district. "A lot of important projects are coming into District IV," he told the Herald-Guide, and the question that followed was who would carry them.
Levees, as a working qualification rather than a talking point. His trade is levee and coastal restoration work, alongside petrochemical, grain barge, oil field and civil projects. Certifying the parish's levees was among the goals he named.
The rest of his stated goals. Economic development along Highway 90, ridding the district of blighted property, finishing the Des Allemands boat launch, and pushing back on rising flood insurance costs. The last two were not points of difference in the race: his opponent named them too, and at greater length.
His stake. He coaches in parish recreation and has children in three of the district's four schools. "I'm someone who lives in this community and wants it to thrive," he said.
Comardelle won a contested race against Paul Hogan in October 2023.
