Tax questions

Every voter in the parish votes on these. A mill is one dollar of tax for every one thousand dollars of a property's assessed value.

Recreation

A renewal of the existing 2.68 mill property tax for recreation, for 10 years. A renewal means the tax already exists and you are being asked whether to continue it, not whether to create a new one.

Council on Aging

A 1.25 mill property tax for the Council on Aging, for 10 years. The Secretary of State lists it as "in lieu"; the parish council's own resolution calls it the levy of a special tax, which is different wording from the renewal language used for the recreation question.
